You'll see the Milwaukee Museum of Art, an evolving architectural campus featuring the designs of Eero Saarinen and Santiago Calatrava. You'll have lunch at the Museum followed by a tour of the entire Museum complex.

You'll see Taliesin, the summer home of Frank Lloyd Wright in Spring Green WI. Plus the visitor's center. Plus the famous design school.

You'll see Wright's masterful Johnson Wax headquarters in Racine WI.

Features:

  • This is a "once-in-a-lifetime" travel opportunity with virtually everything included.

  • Roundtrip direct flight on United to Chicago, then our own air-conditioned, restroom-equipped, wifi-equipped touring bus around Illinois and Wisconsin.

  • Two nights double occupancy accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express in Madison. Plus you get a nice breakfast and free wifi.

  • Lunch at the Milwaukee Museum of Art, followed by a tour of the complex. Lunch on Saturday as we roll. Dinner Thursday and Friday nights (includes everything except alcohol, which is on your own).

  • Extended premium Taliesin tour, with private lecture, lunch, and all photography permitted inside and outside (a privilege not available to the general public); the Johnson Wax Tour and all other admissions.

  • Parking at RDU is not included. Dinner on Saturday night is not included but you'll have many options at the Chicago airport.

  • Checked baggage is not allowed. You may carry on only one rollerboard and one personal item (purses do count).

  • Architects can get self-reported CEU hours if arranged in advance with the AIA.

The Fine Print: All participants are required to sign a liability release emailed a few months ahead of the trip.

Once full payment is made, there are no refunds for any reason except for trip cancellation. However, you can transfer your place to another person with at least two weeks written notice to NCModernist.

The itinerary, number, and order of trip events are subject to change without notice or refund.

There is a small but possible risk of overnight stay if buses and/or flights are delayed, in which case participants are responsible for any additional costs of meals, lodging, transportation, and incidental expenses. The chances of this happening are very small, and it has never happened before on an NCModernist trip, but it could happen, so be prepared.

Proceeds benefit NCModernist's ongoing documentation, preservation, and promotion projects. We are a North Carolina 501C3 nonprofit.
