MICHAEL ALAN (MIKE) RANTILLA, AIA (1973-)

Rantilla was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil. His family worked in the automotive industry there and later they moved to East Lansing and Detroit. In 1996, he graduated with a Bachelors in Architecture from Cornell then worked for Rossetti Associates, Smithgroup, and Gurlitz Architectural Group. In 1997 he moved to Raleigh and worked for Freelon Group. Later he was heavily involved in the firm's African-American Museum in Washington DC. When the firm was acquired by Perkins and Will, he became managing principal in the Sao Paolo, Brazil office. He moved back to the US and shifted firms to Ewing Cole in 2018. 2008 - The Michael and Angela Rantilla House, 1804 Pictou Road, Raleigh NC. Built by Michael Rantilla. Won the 2009 AIA Triangle Honor Award; the 2009 AIANC Honor Award; and a 2009 AIA South Atlantic Regional Honor Award. Featured on a 2011 TMH tour. Won 2nd in the 2012 George Matsumoto Jury Prize.
